Experiential learning is an important part of what we do. When the Royal Guard of Oman (RGO) asked us to deliver a training programme to help their personnel operate and communicate effectively within their new H145 helicopter, what better way to put their new skills to the test, than with a real aircraft and pilot?
Airbus was very quick to offer their support and flew an aircraft into Oxford so the students could test their new language and communication skills. Under the watchful eye of Phil Houghton, one of Sterling’s expert trainers, the students were able make sure their instructions and orders were understood by the pilot over the engine noise. They were also able to familiarise themselves with the interior of the aircraft and how different positions within it might affect surveillance duties and resultant instructions.
